How Does Solar PV System Work?
Adding Solar PV Panels and Battery Storage to your property can reduce your annual energy bills by up to 70%. Solar PV Systems generate electricity directly from the sun, avoiding the use of fossil fuels and focusing solely on green energy.
Solar panels generate electricity from UV lighting.
The Inverter changes the current from DC to AC so that it can be domestically used.
Any surplus AC energy that is not in demand is stored in your battery system for later use.
The Consumer Unit Board controls the distribution of solar energy.
This green energy is then used to power your home when needed.
Your Import Meter then accredits any unused Energy, to and from the Grid.
By Selling your surplus energy to the Grid through an Export Tariff you can even earn.

Solar PV works brilliantly alongside home battery storage and an EV charger so you can store and use more of your own energy. We also offer ongoing solar PV maintenance and commercial solar for businesses. We design and install solar across Dorset, including Poole, Bournemouth and the surrounding towns.
Solar PV FAQs
How much can solar panels save me?
It depends on your roof, system size and how much energy you use during the day, but most homeowners see a meaningful cut in their electricity bills, plus payments for any surplus you export through the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG).
Do I need battery storage with solar?
It’s optional, but a battery lets you store daytime generation to use in the evening, increasing how much of your own solar you use and reducing what you buy from the grid. We can design a system with or without storage.
Are your solar installations MCS certified?
Yes — our renewables division installs to MCS standards, which is what you need to qualify for the Smart Export Guarantee and to give you confidence the system is designed and installed correctly.
Do I need planning permission for solar panels?
For most homes, roof-mounted solar is permitted development and doesn’t need planning permission, though there are exceptions for listed buildings and conservation areas. We’ll check and advise for your property.
Do you handle the DNO and export paperwork?
Yes — we take care of the G98/G99 DNO application and the export registration for you, so the whole process is handled from design and installation through to commissioning and paperwork.
