Our team is currently completing several consumer unit upgrades across Bournemouth and Poole to ensure compliance with BS 7671:2018+A4:2026. In 2026, the transition to Amendment 4 standards requires all new installations to utilize non-combustible metal enclosures and integrated Surge Protection Devices (SPD). These upgrades are essential for maintaining electrical safety in Poole residential properties, particularly where older plastic boards or rewirable fuses are still in service. We are seeing an increase in requests for these installations following quinquennial Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR) for local landlords.
Modern consumer units now frequently incorporate Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs) to mitigate fire risks in higher-risk domestic circuits. Our City & Guilds qualified electricians are installing these units in Ferndown and Ringwood to provide enhanced protection against electrical faults that traditional circuit breakers may not detect. These components are standard in our high-end installations for both residential and commercial clients. We ensure all work is notified to Building Control through our accredited competent person scheme.
